FITTING THE VENT BOX.
Position the box in the centre of the opening. If a concealed gas supply is to be used, it must be routed to the location
of the burner prior to fitting the vent box. The appropriate knock out blank should be removed and the pipe sealed
with the grommet provided.
Four holes are provided in the side flanges of the box these may be used to secure the vent box to the back panel as
shown in Fig 5, screws and plastic plugs are supplied with the fitting kit. It is important to ensure a good seal between
the box and the fixing surface, a foam strip is supplied adhered to the rear of the flange. Replace the burner assembly
in position ensuring that the rear legs locate under the tags in the base plate and secure with the two screws provided.
Complete the gas connection to the burner as required and fit the decorative trim by locating the tags in the cut outs in
the side flanges. Slide the trim down until the top tag locates over the top flange, care should be taken to avoid damage
to the paint on the top flange of the appliance, if the trim is finished in brass remove the protective plastic coating
before lighting the appliance.
SETTING UP THE COAL BED. (See page 9 for identification of components)
Position the two burner inserts which are tee shaped in cross section in between the front and rear ports of the burner -
place the simulated coal front in position as shown in fig. 7. The coal support shelf is positioned so that the rebated
channel on the under side locates over the rear flange of the fibre support channel: two stops prevent the shelf closing
the gap between the back of the burner inserts and the front edge of the shelf. There should be a minimum gap of
6mm, see Figs 6 and 7.
COAL LAYOUT
First Layer. Position 3 large coals with the rear edge on the burner inserts with 2 triangular coals placed at the sides.
Place 4 medium coals stood vertically at the rear of the coal support. Place 5 large coals across the middle. See fig. 8.
Second layer. Position the remaining 4 large and 4 medium coals as shown in fig. 9.
To obtain the best visual appearance it may be necessary to make slight adjustments to the positions of the coals.
NOTE: If any of the coals or coal bed become damaged, lost or broken, replacements must be obtained before the
appliance is used.
TO LIGHT THE APPLIANCE AND CHECK THE CORRECT OPERATION .
